It was in 1975 today that Indira Gandhi imposed an Emergency in India. It lasted 21 months until its withdrawal on March 21, 1977.
A recent reminder of what Indira Gandhi did then in India in 1975 was what Justin Trudeau did in Canada earlier this year.
In general, the “covid pandemic” has exposed the vulnerabilities of the Western Liberal Democracy model. Unlike Indira and Justin, most democratic leaders didn’t even have to impose an “Emergency.”
Most surprising, however, while Indians fought tooth and nail for their freedom in the 1970s, the second time in about 30 years, most of the world capitulated without a fight in 2020, almost willingly giving up their rights and freedom.
In 2022, we are still living in the shadow of tyranny in the garb of public health, media and the Big Tech propaganda and censorship, as well hegemonic agenda of universalist elites like Albert Bourla, Bill Gates, and Klaus Schwab.
Time to wake up!!!
Jaya Prakash Narain JP and George Mathew Fernandes were the two undoubtedly heroes of the anti-Emergency movement in Bhārat.
As we remember one of the darkest moments in the history of post-colonial Bharat today, here are my three pieces about #Emergency.
1. First one - Priyanka, her alleged resemblance to Indira, and the horrible memories of Emergency.
2. One of the main events leading up to the infamous Emergency in 1975 was this great India Railway Strike of 1974, and the man behind it was George Mathew Fernandes. I wrote this piece in his memory.
3. And no #Emergency story is complete without reference to the chief architect of the anti-Emergency resistance Jaya Prakash Narain, the Lok Nayak. Or simply JP to most of us. I wrote how I had (or manufactured) a chance to see him at the Patna Airport.
