My unpublished WSJ Letter to the Editor
Sadanand Dhume’s India's Covid Crisis Could Reach You Too (April 29, 2021) provides a good perspective on the pandemic currently ravaging the Indian landscape. However, the idea of dumping “roughly 60 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine” that has not been approved by the US FDA on the Indian population is perhaps morally and ethically less convincing. The piece lets the Biden administration off the hook completely in its delayed response to the crisis, even in words, despite having many Indian-Americans in high places in the administration, including VP Kamala Harris. The article Blames India PM Modi for “declaring victory too soon.” However, a look at another WSJ article by Eric Bellman: Covid Was Consuming India, Until Nearly Everyone Started Wearing Masks (December 30, 2020) may present a different picture.
